What Compass is
Compass is a working diagnostic for engineering teams. It produces a personal manual for each member, a team-level Compass report, and an AI advisor that draws on both. Compass is operated by MarkD Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (No. 15909858) at a UK office address.
Who can use Compass
You must be at least 18 years old and authorised by your organisation to add the members you invite. By creating a workspace you confirm that you have a lawful basis to process the personal data of the members you add.
Pricing and payment
Compass is sold as a one-shot product per team: £299 covers up to 15 seats, with larger team tiers available. Pricing details live on the pricing page. VAT is added where applicable.
Payment is due on workspace creation. There is no subscription, no auto-renewal, and no per-seat creep. Re-runs of the team Compass report are included.
Refunds
If you change your mind within 14 days of payment and haven't invited any members, we'll refund you in full. After members have been invited, refunds are at our discretion — email us and we'll talk.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Compass to coerce members into completing the assessment, or to make hiring/firing decisions based on the output. Compass is a development tool, not an evaluation tool.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to extract the underlying scoring instrument or archetype content.
- Probe the service for vulnerabilities outside the channel described on the security page.
- Use the AI advisor to generate content that violates OpenAI's usage policies.
Members and consent
You are the data controller for the personal data of the members you invite. You must obtain their consent to participate before inviting them, and you must give them visibility of their own manual.
Intellectual property
The Compass software, the assessment instrument, and the archetype library remain the property of MarkD Limited. The manuals and team report we generate from your team's data are yours to use internally without restriction.
Termination
You can close your workspace at any time by emailing us — we'll delete your data within 30 days. We may suspend or terminate access for material breach of these terms, with at least seven days' notice where the breach is curable.
Warranties and disclaimers
Compass is provided on an "as is" basis. We make no warranty that the service will be uninterrupted, that the manuals will be accurate for every individual, or that the advice generated by the AI advisor is suitable for any specific decision.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you under these terms is capped at the amount you paid for Compass in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or punitive damages.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death, personal injury, or fraud.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms over time. Material changes will be notified to workspace admins by email at least 30 days before they take effect.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
